CSE was one of the first charter schools to open in BrowardCounty. Founded in 1997 by Robert Haag, Businessman and Real Estate Investor, and Hamilton C. Forman, Powerbroker, and Philanthropist, along with animpressive board of judges, former elected officials, and community activists, the school's concept began when Hamilton Forman had a vision that he could"save lives" by providing a quality educational program forelementary-aged children. In 1997, Forman's vision became a reality withthe creation of the Charter Schools of Excellence.
From 2008 to 2017, CSE expanded and operated two campusesin Broward County and has continued to successfully operated the FortLauderdale and Davie campuses, both with a Blue Ribbon status: Fort Lauderdalein 2008 and Davie in 2021. The National Blue Ribbon designation recognizespublic and private elementary, middle and high schools based on their academicexcellence or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. Inaddition, CSE is a District accredited through Cognia, formerly AdvancED.Accreditation through Cognia is a valuable mark of distinction recognizedaround the world. Cognia identifies schools and systems that best exemplifyexcellence in education and stand out in their service to learners based on theresults of a rigorous accreditation process. Because of the high-achievingstatus of the schools, both charters were extended from the original five-yearcharter to a fifteen-year charter.
The educational model has proven to be successful at serving students in grades K-5 with a focus on meeting the needs of all students. The students are served by a dedicated team of administrators, instructional personnel, and support staff who reflect the demographics of the CSE student body. The school community focuses on the core values of honesty, respect, tolerance, fairness, discipline, integrity, responsibility, trust, and citizenship. These values are reflected in every aspect of CSE's operations. We expect our administration, teachers, and staff to model these values and our students and parents to aspire to them. CSE's goal is to provide students with the ability and confidence to meet challenges and achieve success. This goal is accomplished by focusing on teacher/student, and parent relationships, demanding high performance, holding to high expectations, and providing opportunities for self-exploration and self-development. Student achievement continues to reach high levels due to the encouragement and support of theBoard of Directors, hands-on leadership from Senior Management and school administration, teacher commitment, and strong community support. CSE uses research-based, carefully selected, and time-tested curriculum to support our students' highest achievement levels. State standards are followed to ensure all students are equipped to advance to the next grade and be successful in their life beyond graduation.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are happy to have you as part of our family!
